# Video editing

> Post-production on footage you already have, within a deliberately drawn boundary.

<Info>
  § 3.1.2 · A1 / A2 · typically one week · per project
</Info>

## What this is

Post-production on footage that already exists. Trimming, removing filler, captions, lower thirds and simple graphics, and formatting for whichever platform it is destined for.

A testimonial someone filmed on a phone at a conference. A recorded talk. A case study interview. Footage sitting in a folder that nobody has had time to cut.

## The boundary, stated plainly

We do light editing. Trims, logo, filler removal, captions, straightforward graphics.

We do not do heavy multi-camera work or motion graphics. Where a project needs that, we say so and quote it with a specialist partner rather than attempting it and delivering something merely acceptable. Video is a craft with a steep quality curve, and the gap between competent and good is visible to everyone.

## What we need from you

The footage, in the highest quality version you have—not the compressed copy someone sent over a messaging app.

A sense of length and destination. A ninety-second cut for social and a six-minute cut for a website page are different edits, not the same edit trimmed.

Anything you know you want kept or cut. One pass of notes at the start saves two rounds later.

## How long it takes

About a week per video, depending on the length of the source footage and how much of it there is to work through.

## What this is not

Not original video production—concept, script, crew, and shoot are [brand video](/story/visual-identity/photography-and-video) in Chapter 1. Not social clips cut from a podcast episode, which are part of the [Voice-to-Market™ package](/send/podcast/v2m) and already included there.
